After the Queen of Malaysia was spotted in a JM couture dress at the Islamic Fashion Festival held in Kuala Lumpur, celebrated fashion designer from South East Asia, Jovian Mandagie, recently launched - Orked by JM - his latest collection of Muslim Fashion inspired designs. Citing the similarities of an orchid flower and the modern day woman as his design inspirations, Mandagie has given the traditional kebaya, and kaftan a fresh and fashionable makeover. The new range of aesthetic-looking evening wear is a pastel melange of boatnecks, peplums and mermaid silhouettes. The highlight of the collection is in its flower applique detailing - that enhances the femininity and elegance of the outfits.

Being one of the world’s most unique flowers; the orchid personifies the characteristics of a modern day woman. Its stem resembles the foundation of a woman that is strong yet flexible. The longevity of its lifespan depicts the endurance that a woman goes through every day of her life. Its curvaceous form that induces feminity; makes this blossom the muse behind Orked by Jovian Mandagie.

The Style:
The silky soft texture and structure of the petals ignited the inspiration; this is evident in each and every piece. A modern contemporary take at the usual kurong labuh, kurung kedah, kebaya, kaftan & muslim dress; giving it a breath of fresh air by injecting them with structures such as peplum, draping, boat neck and the mermaid silhouette. In further enhancing the pieces, the usage of couture detailing such as embroidery, specially designed silkscreen prints and its main highlight; the flower applique.

Material:
Chiffon, High Quality Polyblend, Silky Polyblend, Crepe Satin. Colors: The usage of colors from the pastel wheel guides the color path. Soft lilac, blush pink, mint green and yellow make up the collection
